Online Applications on the prescribed form are invited for the temporary appointment of Assistant Professor (Contractual) on fixed salary of Rs. 40,000/- per month in the Centre for Distance and Online Education, AMU, Aligarh. The appointment will be purely temporary till the end of Academic Session 2025-26 and liable to termination at any time without any notice or assignment of any reason.
Essential Qualification:
Eligibility A or B:
(A)
i. A master degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in the concerned SUbjects: 1. Political Science, relevant subject: Public Administration/allied subjects- Human Rights, International Relations/Politics/Studies 2. History: Concerned/relevant/allied subject: History 3. Economics: Concerned/relevant/allied subject: Economics from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited' foreign University.
ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) Conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil /Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments form time to time as the case may be, are exempted from NET/SLET/SET:
Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11,2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing OrdinanceslBye-Laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement ofNET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent position in the university subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:.
(a) Ph. D degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.
(b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners. (c) An open Ph.D. Viva-Voce of the candidate had been conducted.
(d) The candidate has published two research papers from hislher Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a referred journal.
(e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on hislher Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSRICSIR or any similar agency.
The fulfillment of above condition is to be certified by the Registrar/Controller of Examination of the University.
NOTE: NET/SLET/SET shall also not be requirement for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is
not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET. OR
(B)
The Ph.D. degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by anyone of the following:
(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
(ii) the times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii) the Academic Ranking of world Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
NOTE: A relaxation of 5% shall be provided at the Bachelor's as well as the Master's level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Schedule Tribe/Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) Differently- Abled «a) Blindness and low vision; (b) Deaf and Hard Hearing; (c) Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; (e) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness) for the purpose of eligibility and assessing Good Academic Record for direct recruitment. The eligibility of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks including any grace marks procedures.
Applications received late or without necessary supporting documents viz.. Degrees Certificates/ Mark Sheets/Experience Certificate etc. shall be summarily rejected. The University will not be responsible for any late receipt/non receipt of the Application Form.
The self-attested copies of the following documents are mandatory to be enclosed by the candidates with the employment application form of all Teaching positions in the University through Local Selection Committee:
1. High School Certificate from a Recognized Board
2. Mark-sheet and Degree of Graduation.
3. Mark-sheet and Degree of Post-Graduation.
4. Certificate of NET. JRF, SLET/SET, CSIR etc. as the case may be
5. M. Phil/Ph.D. Degree wherever applicable
6. Experience Certificates wherever applicable
NOTE: For Madrasa background applicants certificate equivalent to High School or Graduation wiII he considered if the same has been obtained from Madaris/Institution recognized by the University. wherever applicable.
In case, the self-attested copies of aforesaid documents are not enclosed with the employment form, the employment application form wiII be summarily rejected.
The Application Form is to be filled by 30th July, 2025 only in the Online Mode at the Careers Portal of the University (https://careers.amuonline.ac.in). After online payment ofRs. 500/- candidates need to send/submit the printed application along with relevant self-attested documents in the Office of the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Aligarh Muslim University,
NOTE:
1. List of eligible candidates for interview wiII be display on the website of the Centre for Distance and Online Education
2. No separate interview letter will be issued.
3. Candidates called for interview will not be paid TA/DA.
4. Interview of all eligible candidates will be held in the office of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, AMU, Aligarh.
The eligible candidate should report to the office of the Dean at least 30 minutes before the interview.
